Management Information System
Short summary
Anyone using a robot, will want to know its ultimate performances. What is the real production time, how often will the robot be stopped and for what reason?
On the control cabinet, the robots dispose of a feature to read production data, such as welding duty of the cabinet, total welding time, running time, etc. However, this information can only be read and cannot be transferred. Many of our customers dislike this limitation and demand a more advanced information system. Therefore, Valk Welding has developed its own Management Information System.
Valk Welding Management Information System (MIS)
This new information system gives you a clear idea of the performance of your robot(s), thus allowing you to monitor any downtimes and to take timely measures to reduce them. The Management Information System is suitable for Panasonic robots.
The complete system offers you among others the following possibilities:
1. For each robot, information on operating time, production time, breakdown time, welding time and the number of products being welded.
2. Complete report of these data completed with teach time, through-stop, emergency stop, breaking and alarm.
3. Graphical presentation of this information in a histogram.
4. Possibility to sort all available data.
5. Calculation of performance.
6. Selection per time unit (day, week, month).
Data collection
Each robot must be provided with a data collector. This data collector has very compact hardware and is provided with the stable operating system Windows CE 3.0TM. Any change in machine status will immediately be registered and sent to the MIS server which in its turn will complete an Access database.
User interface
The system end user(s) can request information via his PC using a browser programme, such as Internet ExplorerTM.
The various components
1. One data collector per robot.
2. One network connection of the data collector to a Server (or a standard PC with Windows 2000 and IIS installed)
3. An installed internet browser on the Server or PC that is connected to the Server.
4. Server software MIS Server Versie 2.0
5. The system should be installed once, whereby the data collectors must be connected to the robot and software has to be installed on the PC or Server where the data will be collected; this can be done by Valk Welding engineers. (The hardware for server and network and accompanying components must be taken care of by your own system management department)
Schematic presentation of the overall system

The abbreviation PWS stands for Personal WebServer and IIS means Internet Information Server. The Access Database will be filled from the MIS-Server application, no MS Access needs to be installed for this on the server.
