Introduction TAWERS welding robot at fair Schweissen & SchneidenPrint this page
As the first manufacturer world-wide, Panasonic launches a robot completely focussed on the the arc welding process. With its newest TAWERS welding robot, standing for The Arc Welding Robot System, Panasic continues where other manufacturers pull out.
At the fair Schweissen & Schneiden in Essen, robot system integrator Valk Welding B.V. – agent for Panasonic in a large number of Western and Eastern European countries – introduced this new robot concept to the public.
One look at the Panasonic TAWERS, and it becomes obvious that this robot is specifically designed for arc welding applications. The most striking details of this compact robot are the bent robot arm, the rotating wire motor and not in the least the extreme high speed. Thanks to the bent arm, the robot can easily bent over its workpiece, the rotating wire motor controls the optimal position of the wire feeding cable for optimal wire feeding. Furthermore, the extreme high speed of the TAWERS increases production output. Another striking detail is the fact that all connecting cables – also for the wire motor etc - run through the robot.
Advanced servo-software
Less striking details, but certainly as innovative, are the TAWERS' new electronics and software. The new servo-software prevents overloading of the welding torch, disconnection and robot arm. In case of external load, the control automatically switches to ‘soft-servo’, causing the robot arm to fall asleep, so to speak.
SP-MAG welding techniques
The new SP-MAG welding technique is unique. Thanks to a new software algorithm, the arc characteristics of traditional MAG welding and pulse arc welding can be thus applied that all the advantages of either technique can be used. With an advanced “Weld Monitor”, the arc characteristics can be closely monitored and analysed. In addition, the TAWERS disposes of a “Weld Data Log”, in which all welding parameters and data are stored. They can be read on the control panel or the PC in order to even better analyse the welding process and adjust whenever necessary.
The Panasonic TAWERS series is available as of the 4th quarter of 2005 leverbaar and includes the same extensive range of robots as the current Panasonic Global II series.
